Maybe.
Maybe not.
Here is the thing – I rewrote hundreds of resumes and spoke with so many people in the last 12 months, and there is one thing that has consistently appeared as a trend:
Insufficient general tech skills and knowledge. Yes, that’s right.
While the younger population of job seekers is on top of this, those above 40 (sorry for the label ❤️) are genuinely struggling.
If you are looking for work right now, you can’t afford to let the modern digital world run over you.
Here is what you can do to upgrade your skills:
🎯 Identify the basic technology skills needed for the job you want. Do you have them? If not, start learning.
🎯 Do you understand social media enough? How about LinkedIn? If not, start learning.
🎯 Are you confident with any video conferencing tool? If not, start learning.
🎯 Do you understand and know how to use email and calendar platforms, cloud, collaboration or productivity tools? If not, start learning.
The right time to start is now.
You have no choice but to stay competitive in today’s job market.
Good learning platforms to help you with this are LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, Udemy, edX, Udacity.
Work smarter, not harder and ask for help when you need it! 🍀
