How Managers Make Good Employees Quit?

Dear managers, here are 5 things you do that make good employees quit:

#️⃣1️⃣

Not being consistent and clear with expectations

You can't afford to force employees to choose between tasks to meet competing expectations - you will only have a team of stressed-out people without clear priorities.

You must set clear expectations for every task and list of priorities to be able to create some stability in your team.

#️⃣2️⃣

Not giving team members the resources they need to succeed

The needed resource can be anything, but in most situations is – time.

Before assigning your staff any additional tasks or scheduling endless meetings, ask yourself what is a priority at that specific moment. Make a list of the most important tasks for that week and make sure your employees are on the right track from time to time.

#️⃣3️⃣

Hiring the wrong person for the role

This is the management's biggest fear because this mistake wastes (a lot of) time and money.

To avoid employee knowledge and skills waste, be very clear and transparent about the role during the hiring process and especially during interviews. You'll keep employees longer.

#️⃣4️⃣

Assigning monotonous and easy tasks

The result is usually a lack of work satisfaction and engagement, forcing employees to finally ask whether this job is the right fit for them.

Get to know your employees well, and try extending their capabilities by encouraging them to take on more challenging work. Give them tasks that will enhance their knowledge and skills or help them grow in the right direction.

#️⃣5️⃣

Failing to create a safe working environment or making it "too safe."

Employees who do not feel psychologically safe are less likely to take risks, participate in healthy conflict, or grow in their roles. Show your team that you are open to new ideas; during meetings, ask questions and reward those who speak up.

Also, one way to create a healthy, but not "too safe" environment is to provide your team with regular (thoughtful and without judgment) feedback — both positive and negative. This will give them goals and help them feel a greater sense of purpose.

➖➖➖

We all want to work in a company where we will feel valued. If you want to keep your employees, always appreciate your team members' efforts and show them that - when you reward those who do a good job, it only motivates them to do even more.

Remember, employees work for the money, but they are prepared to go the extra mile for recognition.

Work smarter, not harder. 🍀
