AI job search and application tools and platforms have revolutionised the job-seeking process in the last 12 months, offering, most of all, convenience. Now, dozens of AI tools are designed to streamline and enhance the job application process.

 

Those can help you with:

 

1️⃣ Resume and cover letter writing


Various AI resume builders can analyse job descriptions to suggest how to tailor resumes for specific roles, optimising keywords, formatting, and content. Those can provide AI-driven feedback, suggesting improvements in language, structure, and relevance. Try platforms like Grok, ChatGPT, HyperWrite (OthersideAI), EnhanceCV, CovrLtr, Teal.

 

DOWNSIDES: lack of personal data input, over-reliance on matching keywords and phrases, not understanding the nuances of job requirements or company culture, all this leading to generic, uncompelling and inefficient resume.

2️⃣ Job application automation


Tools such as LazyApply, BulkApply, and Sonara automate form filling and application submission across multiple job boards.

 

DOWNSIDES: automated applications can't show your personal interest or enthusiasm for a position, making applications seem generic. Also. not all job opportunities are listed on platforms that AI tools scrape (especially niche or local positions).

3️⃣ Interview preparation


For example, Huru - AI Job Interview Preparation App, or AI's Interview Copilot, simulates interviews and analyses videos to provide feedback on responses, tone, and even body language.

 

DOWNSIDES: lack of data security. Users provide a lot of personal information (personal data, video access and recording), which can be at risk if platforms do not have robust security measures. There is also an issue of how these platforms use, share, or sell your data, which is not always transparent.

As you can see, the AI tools we can use can be great if we remember that they are precisely that - TOOLS.
And their effectiveness exclusively depends on the data it has access to. So, any outdated or incomplete data hinders the efficiency of content, recommendations or job matches. 

 

As a user, you MUST combine these tools with personal judgment, networking, and manual application where necessary to get the job search results you want.

 

The human touch in everything is still irreplaceable - remember that.
